prepared kitchen meals chefQ. What if I don't know how to cook at all?

A. Then this is perfect for you! Your meals arrive home as meal kits, complete with easy-to-follow cooking instructions. If you can read, you can make these great meals! And we'll gladly answer any questions you may have regarding preparation of your meals at home.

Q. How do I sign up for a session?

A. Click on the Schedule link and select a session time and date from the calendar. Then either enter your contact information or sign in (returning customers). Then choose your meal package, and choose your dinners. It's that easy! The website will walk you through the process. If you'd prefer, you may also stop by and visit us in person or call to sign up for a session.

Q. Will it take me the full two hours?

A. Please plan to spend the whole time with us. If the session is not full, it may take you an hour or a bit more to complete 12 dinners; probably 30 minutes to finish 6 dinners. But if the session is full, and everyone wants to make the same meal, you may have the time to drink a cup of coffee or tea and socialize. This is not just about dinner - it's about relaxing, breathing, renewing old friendships and gaining new ones. Sit and talk a spell. We won't tell on you. You can go home and tell your family you slaved for the full two hours. Of course, if you're in a hurry, we won't keep you.

Q. Do I have to be prompt?

A. No, you are not required to arrive on the dot. However, please arrive within 30 minutes of your session start time. If arrival time is going to be a problem, please call us and we'll work out a solution.

Q. What if something comes up and I need to cancel my session?

A. We order the supplies and ingredients per session to ensure we have the freshest, best ingredients on hand when you arrive. But we also know life is unpredictable. If something happens and you cannot make your session, we'd appreciate 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your session. In case of emergency, we can work something out or help you reschedule. We value our customers and want to do what's best for you.

Q. What should I do beforehand?

A. The day before your session, make sure you've made room in your freezer for your meals. This is a good excuse to clean out the freezer anyway (think of George Carlin's "meatcake" - ooh, I'm dating myself). If you can't remember how long something has been in the freezer, it's probably time to get rid of it to make space for great food.

Q. Can I bring a friend?

A. Due to State and local regulations, we must limit the number of people we have at any one session. But part of the beauty of making dinner this way is the opportunity to socialize! Sign up for a session with your friend and you can both bring home great dinners while you chat with each other. In fact, you can schedule a private party for just you and your friends if you'd like (see Prep Party Program information, below). Make it an office party, a bridal shower, or a gathering of friends to keep in touch. What better way to combine a necessary task - making dinner - with the opportunity to meet with your friends and catch up on life?

Q. Can I bring my child?

A. We welcome your well behaved child to a regularly scheduled session for some one-on-one time. Cooking together can be fun! You might also consider a special Parent and Child Session with eight to twelve participants - see "What is the Prep Party Program?" below. It could be a great birthday party for the budding chef! We do ask that the children be at least 10 years old to fully enjoy the experience.

Q. What is the Prep Party Program?

A. It's an opportunity to reserve your own private session at The Prep Kitchen! Call us to book a time and date. Register 8-12 friends to join you, coordinate their meal choices, let us know what everyone wants, and come visit us together! Bring your own music CDs, appetizers for noshing, and recent photos and stories to share with each other. Not only will you and your friends have meals to take home and a great time socializing and visiting, but you will earn yourself a $25 gift certificate for coordinating the party. And we'll provide the forms for everyone's orders to keep it easy to organize.

Q. What should I bring?

A. Bring a sense of humor, a willingness to lower your stress level, and a large cooler, laundry basket or sturdy box to take home your meals. We'll provide everything else.

Q. How do I dress?

A. Comfort is our style! We're very laid back, down to earth people. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. If you have long hair, please wear it back. Also, long dangling sleeves will get in your way so wear short sleeves or long sleeves that fit closely to your forearm - or that can be rolled up out of the way - so you don't wear your dinner home on your sleeves. You'll probably find us in jeans or khaki pants.

Q. How many people are usually at a session?

A. Our sessions are usually 8 - 12 people.

Q. What if I still have questions?

A. We welcome you to contact us at with any questions or concerns.
